A behind the scenes look at
a Bradley Specialty Door. Sturdy 2"x4" frame
(trim) boards give the double doors strength and
durability. An even sturdier 2"x6" board is used
for the kick plate. Besides adding strength, the
2"x6" lends a sense of balance. The doors are
attached to the 2"x4" frame of the building by
sturdy .04 mil aluminum piano hinges. The 6' continuous
hinges cannot be
dismantled from the outside. A heavy duty hasp is
included; just add a lock for the
security of your new building.
Because some wood doors
have a tendency to warp with time, Bradley adds a
unique Warp Arrester to each door. This is accomplished by
nailing a 2"x2" vertical board along the
inside edge of the door (see elevations below). The Warp
Arrester, coupled by the strength of the 2"x4"
exterior frame board, effectively eliminates warping. In
addition, the Warp Arrester acts as a door pull when
closing the doors from the inside.
Note: A rain guard
is incorporated into the top of any custom door not
protected by either an overhang or reverse gable. A
2"x4" board is placed at an angle at the top of
the outer door frame to prevent rain from striking the top
of the doors.
